Technology Committee Guidelines
The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Psalm 11:6
Mission statement:
The Technology Committee seeks to use technology to improve communication in our congregation and community and to help us to grow physically, intellectually and spiritually.
Prayer of our committee:
We praise you, O Lord for You are great and holy and worthy of praise! You have led us in the past, and we know that You will lead us in the future. We would ask that you guide us in our endeavors. Keep us focused on you. Help us to never waiver in our service to our congregation, but help us also to be mindful of the big picture for this church. Let us honor you by using technology to fulfill the Great Commission which Jesus left us: “Go, ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Insure in our hearts and minds that we are following the Holy Spirit in accordance with Your Will. Guide us to be alert to gifts of the Spirit distributed among the members of our congregation and lead us to include them in our ministry. Give us generous attitudes that will welcome new members, new ideas and new advancements in technology. We pray all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Committee Work:
As a committee of session, members of the committee will be asked to serve by other members of the committee or by recommendation. In recognition of the specific skills associated with the work of this committee, members may continue in uninterrupted service. It is recommended that the officers include chairman, vice-chair, and secretary. This committee is open to guidance and consultation from outside sources.
Minutes of the meeting will be recorded and submitted to the church secretary and on file in the office and the library. Decisions will be made and approved in committee meetings. The session representative will present any requests for funding that exceed the committee’s budget to session.
Technology Assistance:
Our committee members have a belief that to do evangelism and ministry today, one needs to have a working knowledge of technology because it enhances the communication of our message. We are working to create an atmosphere where people can connect with God. In conjunction with the Worship Outreach Committee which plans worship services that teach, inspire and encourage, our committee provides technical support to enhance the services with screen presentations during worship services. The committee will provide training and support to further this goal.
Website maintenance:
We will continue to maintain the church's website and Facebook presence with integrity and attention to abiding to our mission statement. We will continue to strive to include a Bible verse on each page and will ask for spiritual guidance to reflect our mission statement throughout our website.
We have provided disclaimers for slaypres.org. These will be updated as needed.
We will abide by copyright law, providing information on sources of images, hymns, and text as appropriate. We will work with session and pastor to develop a process for audio recordings of worship services to be included on the website.
